Sibsagar University, Joysagar, is a state university established by the Government of Assam to expand access to quality higher education in Upper Assam. History & Heritage

The university takes its name from Sivasagar, the seat of the Ahom kingdom for six centuries, a region whose tanks, maidams and monuments — Rang Ghar, Talatal Ghar and the Joysagar tank — remain among the most significant heritage sites of Assam.
